Internet trolls ‘attack’ Lord Mayor Robert Doyle’s Facebook profile

Cr Doyle said he could even be forced to close his twitter account after relentless attacks from protesters.

But he has vowed to get his social web pages back up and running.

“I regret that I have had to shut my official Facebook down and maybe Twitter too due to offensive and abusive attacks. Up again ASAP,” Cr Doyle tweeted this morning.

Occupy Melbourne spokesman Carl Scrase said the hashtag of #AskDoyle had been created in response to the Mayor’s profile bio’ which welcomed feedback and concerns regarding the city.

“There wasn’t any ‘trolling’,” Mr Scrase said. “It was reasonable questions that were being asked.”
